The diverter valve on my Heatslave oil combi operates during the night when the room stat is not calling for heat, what else can cause the diverter valve motor head to power up and move the valve the pump doesnt start.

sussed it out, valve is sticking in CH position and during the night the hot water reservoir is being heated as designed, however because the valve is now in CH position and the upstairs rads have cooled thermodynamics and all that causes the now heated water to rise to those rads without the pump, which cools the reservoir calling for the burner to ignite, hey presto we have our central heating on without demand. The valve cartridge was changed only 12 months ago what a crap design.
