Is this the machine with a loose/broken wire on the motor plug? If so this can cause the symptoms you describe. The motor plug can have 5, 6 or 7 wires if one is loose or broken the normal fix is to replace the motor plug & harness. If this is not possible you'll have to carefully mark which leads go where then clip off the plug & fit insulated spades. Be sure to replace the wires according to marking. It would be a good idea to measure the motor terminals with a multimeter first just in case there is an open-circuit in the motor.
