but instead runs for hours. perhaps waiting to for the heat that will never come? I think I found the heating element just after the pump. ( bottom right back). The element seems low resistance ( labeled B - C in the photo) & the sensor open circuit ( between wires pints a & b) when it is swtched off. But when its running prodging those connections with a mains testing neon screwdriver shows no live at all. So that sensor in the middle might be a pump pressure switch??... And it the controller that's Kaputt ? Are there any other sensors or fuses I should be looking at ? or advice on how to test the controler ? ( the thing is only 12 years only not even a teenager )http://media.diynot.com/182000_181680_50010_15910886_thumb.jpg

Throw your neon tester in the bin before it gets you electrocuted. Measure the element resistance in ohms & tell us what it is. The "thing" in the centre of the element is a safety switch that prevents the heater engaging with no water pressure. The chances are that your pcb has gone awol but to safety's sake you should check the combo NTC/thermostat on top of the instantaneous water heater.

The power relay on the PCB had burnt out one leg ... AJS1311 available from ebay & hongkong £4.. & damaged board repaired. Stuffing the heater current through the relay's tiny legs/ & solder joint seems a weak design by Bosch. Even tho the relay is built for it & rated at 10Amps it only lasted a decade..
