Botched bathroom installation ?

I have zoomed in on the images- my laptop screen has a 2k resolution. I cannot see any evidence of SBR or similar on the plasterboard boxing.

I hope he didn't just tile over the paper face on the plasterboard.
Morning.
It's a possibility. A bottle of SBR was at hand but who knows. That corner boxing is the only section of plasterboard as it's covering a soil pipe. The wet areas/wall have been tanked -at-least.

Fortunately I paused matters before any plumbing botched

Following on from wall mishap to flooring.

The plan was to have the floor tiled as it going to have at-least one washing machine and maybe one dryer.

The flooring is a new suspended floor construction with two concrete beams and additional timbers to support the 24mm floor ply (could be thicker my eyes are not great). I cannot replicate any deflection in areas and no squeaks either.

Any views on the tiling prep?

Lay hardibacker with suitable mortar (modified?)
Mechanically reinforce with appropriate screw fixings and cover
Seal joins with appropriate mesh and feather those in
Tanking slurry/paint over floor
Tile?

Or
Use ditra or durabase matting?

Anybody have a preference of which ditra membrane? The ditra-25 or ditra-PS peel and stick? It's only

Any thoughts of the route to take?
Cheers

Hi mate,

Bit of a nightmare situation there. From what I can see, for the top gap - coving or cornice seems like your best bet. Quick fix and hides the mess. If you're worried about moisture, get some bathroom-grade coving and seal it properly.

The shower tray gap - if it's not too wide, a good quality silicone should do the job. Clean it out first, let it dry proper then apply fresh silicone. You can get shower sealant strips too if you want extra protection. That pipe boxing though... yeah it looks properly misaligned. Simplesteve's right - might need to remove that column and redo with proper trim. Magnetic access tile is actually a clever solution for getting to the pipes.

Don't sweat it too much. These things happen. At least you caught it before the floor tiles went in! Good luck sorting it out.
