I want to box in a Sime boiler its one of the 40 -100 range. In the instructions it only says "If the appliance is installed in a compartment do no use for storage purposes and do not obsturct any purpose provided ventilation openings."
It has a vent to outside the house. It is in the kitchen and the boxing in has three holes cut into it facing into the room - apart a foot above the pilot light.
Is it safe?

You fail to say how large your "boxing" is !

I dont think your likely model can be safely "boxed" in!

The correct advice would be to remove any boxing.

A compartment in gas safety terms is usually a description of a larger area with usually 300-900mm all around the boiler. Its NOT a term used in the industry for a boiler in a kitchen unit.

In addition there are various maintenance access requirements!

It does not sound good! If you boiler is incorrectly "boxed" it could invalidate your insurance.

Thanks for the reply.
The boxing can be easily unscrewed for maintenance access, but it is quite tight around the boiler itself....

If these vents you have are for compartment ventilation they should both communicate to the same space ie both outside or into the kitchen and be sized appropriately
