BP's maths doesnt add up............

cheers, empip, i'd never given it much thought before.
I suppose we could take heart in the knowledge that although this catastrophe is a result of man's exploration/exploitation of resources, it is something which could have happened naturally at some point in time as a result of geological events, with similar, but non-containable, results.
It must be heart-breaking to live near and see the consequences of the 'spill'.

On the other hand the fishermen whos fishing its ******ed up, who used to earn $1000 a month catching prawns, are now being paid $1000 a week to mop the oil up with booms off there boats.
 
short-term money is no consolation, really, once all the prawns are dead

A Barrel of Crude Oil is 42 US gallons or approx 35 Imperial Gallons.


This is BP's Latest Update.

The sea bed may be 5000ft down, but one relief well (started 2 May) is already at 14,000ft and the other (started 16 May) at 8,500ft! And there's three months more drilling, which makes the wells about 45,000 ft deep!!
