Breaking tiles on plasterboard

Hi,

I would like to renew my bathroom.
The tiles behind the wash-basin are stuck on plasterboard. The all room is an extension and all the walls are plasterboards.

I would like to know if there is a way to take them off without breaking and replacing the panel of plasterboard behind.

If there is no way, can I tile on the old tiles? I suppose that it will look a bit messy because very thick.

Easiest to rip the lot out (plasterboard included) and just replace.
