Brick or block, patching up with render afterwards

Morning all!

Just a quick one getting some quotes to remove and brick up this poorly insulated window. Totally loose the stepped part and brick up back to normal wall level and render pre loft conversion

Had some people say to use block as cheaper and other say to use brick. Is there any benefit to bricks over block work when it'll be patched in with render anyway? If not then all good.

Blocks are better if it’s going to be rendered. Do you mean continue the bay down to the ground onto an existing foundation?

The opposite loose the whole bay and take it back and brick the whole window up for more wall space in the room and the other side round corner is a big window.

Mainly more wall space due to where stairs are going for loft conversion and some of this room being used for that.

It's always leaked and had a few bodged repairs overs the years. Few roofers said its the pitch change. All rotten round gutters and makes the room cold so be glad to get rid
