Hi, I would like to hang a 50kg TV on a brick wall. It's a Victorian terraced house, and it is in one of the attic bedrooms (mounting the TV on the end brick wall). Does anyone know if it will be OK? I figured the TV was extremely heavy, being at the top of the house, I do not know if it's a good idea.. Cheers

Up near the top of the gable, the bricks might be a but ropey. As said 50kg's? WTF!

Yes. It’s 50kg. It’s very heavy. What would you say is the max weight the wall could handle?

It's no so much the weight as the pull-out force and the fact that the bricks near the top of an old Victorian era attic, could be lifted off by hand, in some houses.
As long as you are far enough from the uppermost courses and you are lucky enough to hit brick and not a joint, when you drill, you should be ok.

What size tv is that?
No idea what design your mounting brackets are but personally, I would construct a secondary frame ie having multiple fixings over a larger area and then mount it off of that. Maybe build a 3x2 stud frame / false wall? If you end up boarding the frame then obvs affix the tv mounting to the frame itself and NOT the boards.

50-inch TV - it's plasma . I think there's already a small false wall on top of the brick. I'll have to check it out a bit more.
