Can anyone show us a wall, any wall, any part of a wall, one brick, one bed joint even, that has failed due to bricks being laid frog down?

There's a Black Sea cruise and 500 roubles spending money for the winner (y)

Hardly theory - that's the practical guide from the industry association, backed up by the British Standard.

Usually failures aren't widely publicised!

It's totally theoretical if there are no studies, no evaluation and no evidence of failure!

There are regular instances in the building industry where failures are published, and practices changed because of the failures. But there's no mention of this on Facebook or Twitter, so you know, who is one to believe?

OK, 550 roubles.

British standards recommend frog up in most cases, whereas ASTM standards are more flexible and recommend either depending on the situation. For example in an area of a high freeze/thaw climate, frog up has caused some issues.

As a reminder to us to be wary of blindly using and quoting standards without thought or question, an old lecturer used to tell us that a pair of mole grips could be left in place to turn on a kitchen tap, and it would meet the relevant British Standards.
