im digging footings out for a dwarf wall and have come across a drainpipe,
ive been told to bridge it but how do i go about it? do i dig deeper than the pipe then shutter it off making sure some concrete goes underneath or can i get away with digging half way down the pipe and then shuttering it off

Depends where it is in the footing depth..
Near the top then shutter around it and put a couple of precast lintels for the wall over..
Near the bottom/middle then think about encasing the pipe in some compressable material and sleeving it through the footing..

Ah here we are:

Wrapping the pipe in compressible material, i.e. 100mm fibreglass cavity batts, usually satisfies b.c.

This is simply wrapped around the pipe and duct taped to secure it.
