Brighter boot light for Passat estate?

Employer has just given me a new Passat estate, no complaints so far except that when loading the boot in the dark the roof light is dim so I can't see much outside the actual boot. A brighter bulb would create a useful pool of light behind the car.

Any suggestions, anybody? I've read about LED bulbs but this will need to be a long tubular bulb, won't it?

Another possibility is a small magnetic light that can plug into the rear power socket. Any ideas?

you can put a brighter bulb in, get them from halfords.

when i had a van a brighter lamp was of little use, since it is in one place.

i solved the problem by fitting several small lamps high up on the back of the cage (was an astra van with cage between the front and back

you may also wish to consider this simple idea.

piece of trunking

drill small holes in it,

insert white leds through holes

put resistor on each led (around 1k)

connect to exisiting light

fix to suitably high position
