No, I don't think my area did free swimming when I was a child. We had lessons but they were a token effort at best.

I did you had to jump in tread water for a minute and swimma length.....free swimming after that in council pools.

I'm saying that your standards of what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is bad, make you an outlier, which is why you can't imagine noseall having any friends. You think that because you regard him as an "antagonistic nutter" and a "complete pick without forgetting the R" everybody else does.
