British Gas / Dyno Alarms or Pyronix, Visonic or Alexor ?

Has anyone got any feedback on this solution from British Gas

And how do these solutions compare with the likes on Pyronix, Visonic or Alexor wireless alarms?

Are there any benefits of using a NACOSS etc approved alarm installer / local sparky then over installing the likes of a Yale alarm yourself? or via the likes of ADT or British Gas

What sort of kit do British Gas/ADT use and how does this compare to the likes of

Pyronix,
Visonic
Alexor
Risco


Or am I looking into this too much? I just want a quality wireless alarm product for the house

If you want quality do not fit Yale, if you search these forums you will see countless posts with issues on Yale alarms,

The British gas system is Visonic

The Dyno one made by DSC (I think) Canadian company

Risco is Israeli, no relevance just saying, cheaper end equipment used by many.

Visonic used by many professional installers and DIY, depends which kit, they do loads. Israeli again.

Alexor made by DSC (Above) not seen much in the UK.

Pyronix designed in the UK, used to be built here as well, now mainly comes from China.

Get three quotes from local SSAIB or NACOSS companies, let them do the survey and recommend the kit, after all they are the experts, it may be that you end up with somethi9ng on your list, it may be you end up with something else, if it's recommended by a local firm it won't be junk, last thing they want to do is come back to site to sort problems, they want you to tell your friends and neighbours how great they were, and how pleased you are with the system.

That bit's not true.

You will however find countless posts from profs criticising them, and a small number of questions from DIYers who have come to this DIY site because they are interested in a DIY alarm.

The truth is that the Yale is a cheap alarm that a DIYer can install himself in an hour or so. A better alarm costs more to install and to maintain, especially if it communicates with a monitoring company in the event of an alarm, which I think is an important feature. Sadly there are some people who can't afford much.

I gather from your post that you are looking for a higher-quality professional alarm, so you are not in the Yale market. A local sparky is unlikely to be a professional alarm specialist.

Apologies yes it is a bit misleading, they do a whole range of equipment, but I would suggest the majority is at the lower end

I would also respectfully suggest the kit they shift is no different in comparison to their competitors in terms of Grade/features.

There's a member in this forum who has had plenty of discussions regarding products at the lower end of the market and it's availability - significantly more than Risco.
