Hi, Help!!! Having replaced the left hand hydraulic block an soleniods with monotonus regularity for the past 2 years the boiler of doom has generated a new problem...

Heating - Fine!!

Hot water - none!!

It seems to be not switching over when you turn on the hot tap and is leaking from the big silver bit above the plastic hydraulic blocks.. When you put the heating on it seems to stop the leak...

think it maybe the 3 way switch thingy enext to the left hand hydraulic block, but before I invest in one can anyone confirm this...

Many thanks

any tips on telling which one - it isn't making the usual clunk when it swaps over, and where is the waffle valve....

It has been leaking for a while - just a couple of drips but this afternoon it just started more...

leak may be down to monsoon this afternoon - leak has stopped - still no hot water - just isn't clicking across!!

Id still suspect the waffle valve. It will be leaking from where the Waffle valve meets the Waffle-ater Hydraulic Arm.

Mark, I think Harrogate is labouring a rather poor joke. No such thing as a Waffle valve.

But there is the hot water flow switch (right hand of the two to the left of water section). When you turn on a hot tap does the boiler do anything? If not, suspect flow switch (also called throttle I think). If you go to www.partsarena.com/baxi and look at the Baxi Genesis (which is a re-badged Britony Combi) you can see it all in detail and follow through the fault finding.

Scrooge!

Thanks for the tip, I changed one of the flow switches about 6 months ago, will swapping them over to test help?? or perhaps just swapping over the connections on the top so see if the switch is working??

When you switch on the hot water with the heating running there is no 'clunk' and cut out of the heating, it is just like running the cold tap!!

Thanks for the help - turned out to be the connection on top of the water throttle, the plastic housing for the spade connectors has come apart and so the terminal had moved away from the contact. Saved me £68 many thanks.... til next time this piece of plastic s**t breaks down...

Mark
