Any ideas what the flashing 40, 60, 80 signifies with this boiler? It has suddenly stopped and we have no heat or hot water and these numbers are flashing. Can't get an engineer out till next week but wondered if someone could give an idea what it is going to be and roughly how much we should expect to pay :( Any advice would be gratefully received.

That code means that the APS has not made even though the fan is running, not something you can work on yourself Im afraid, you will have to wait till a RGI can attend

any idea what sort of price that would be?

unfortunately I cant comment as I do not know any engineers in your area, everyone charges different if you want a fixed figure so you know what it is going to cost try a BG fixed price repair but dont beleive them when they tell you that you need a new boiler, your other option is contact the manufacturer and see who they recommend in your area

If I was going to it in local area I would be advising that it would PROBABLY cost about £90 to £120.

But since it could be a faulty PCB it might even be over £200.

evidently it was the circuit board? a nice fat £282

Has it now been fixed ?

With a new PCB ?

Where does the £282 come from?

Tony

I would be charging my customer £167 for a new PCB.

thats why most people worry about having to call out someone for these things because we always get ripped off (or feel like we do) but what can we do but pay up? Unless you are lucky enough to know someone personally that can do the job or someone is recommended then you have to take it on the chin and pay up and hope its not going to be a rip off. :(

Well with my diagnostic fee my total charge would become £251.

So not a lot of difference and you were certainly not ripped off in my view!
