I have recently noticed when in my loft that quite a number of the boards upon which the felt and then the tiles are placed are bulging away from the joists and some are cracked.

Should I be worried about this and what can I do about it? The board seems to be plywood.

yep i'd be worried

The construction of ur roof is tiles on battens on roof felt on plywood + then fixed onto the roof truss. If the plywood is bulging it's got water into it - sounds like u might be havin a leak in ur roof.

If it continues, + all the ply fails, u wud be lookin at lifting the whole roof + fixing new plywood + then relaying the roof.............not cheap

Get up there + fix the leaks sharpish

Thanks. I'll check the next time it rains. There doesn't appear any sign of dampness on the plywood but it may be that it has dried out.

That's why the ply( or in you're case closed boarding) has probaly bulged .because it keeps on getting wet and drying out
Still I like you're attitude to life
