The flue to our oil fired boiler runs through the wall and outside - whereupon it raises about 10 feet to a level above roof height. in the storms Thursday night the wind has blown and snapped the flue.
I braced the flue and set the boiler to run to check if it was still working as a vent to the boiler. After less than 10 minutes running the CO2 alarm in the house went off.
Not prepared to attempt a DIY job when it comes to emissions from a boiler. Especially as Mrs_Manc is currently 1 1/2 weeks overdue!
Need to get a plumber (I suppose - or would it be a builder?) out ASAP - but assuming it is just replace the external flue pipe - any ideas how much we are talking here?
Just from looking - the flue is broken about half way up - just above a joint - so it should be just replacing the flue (and lining? Are boiler flues lined?) from the point of the joint. Access is via the porch roof - not a problem, should be no internal or structural work required.
