Broken Vice? - Help needed

See the pictures - its a plain screw vice, when i turn the handle the vice front does not move with the vice - is it missing some typre of bolt ?

Can't see any pics Walter but if your vice is the typical Record engineers type, and the jaws don't open when you turn the tommy bar, then unbolt it from the bench, turn it over and you'll see a spring which is retained by a shear pin that has - yes - sheared. Knock the old pin out with a punch, push the spring up the thread and retain it with a new pin - about 3mm diameter. A split pin will do. Cheers John
 
The pictures were there yesterday, I think it looked like a joiners vice, didnt see a full pic. of it.
