You can use 40:1 or 50:1 mix......these days, the likes of Oregon lubricants go for 50:1 to minimise pollution, and machines cope with this perfectly well.
For self mix I'd recommend using E5 petrol, or an Aspen type of fuel if the machine is stored for long periods.
