HELP
I am renovating the entrance to my property, i have used self levelling compound to screed the floor and steps, sealed them & painted the floor and steps,
I now find , after it has been raining, the paint bubbles, i feel now i have to scrape the painted surface, and re-seal prior to painting yet again. Can anyone point out where i have gone wrong????? [/b]

Is the compund bubbling or just the paint? how long did you leave the compound before sealing? and what did you seal it with?

The paint is bubbling in some places, (not all), it was sealed with ordinary PVA, and left for 24 hours.

I imagine this may be better moved into the painting forum if a mod is passing by.

In moist area's painting over PVA can sometimes cause bubbles but i've only seen it only when using emulsion and i imagine if your painting a floor and steps your not using that.

What paint are you using and what did the paint say on it regarding surface prep?

If you have sealed the screed with PVA and then used an oil based floor paint over the top, they could have reacted with each other. PVA is really only to be used when used as a sealer prior to plastering, tiling, papering etc but not for painting over. It should not be used on raw plaster prior to emulsion painting as some people are told.

I reckon ist wasnt fully dry...thats the most common cause of bubbles

And the PVA hasnt helped either

What sort of paint was it?

BTW, self levelling compound isn't designed to be used as a final finish.

Thank you for all your comments, when i took over the property the exterior finish on the entrance porch and stairs was flaky, i scraped all this away, which left the area pitted.
After cleaning, i applied( on the advice of a former builder at the local B&Q), self levelling compound, this was done in stages due to to access, the stairs were done last, prior to the application of Evo-stick super evo bond PVA ( which states to seal concrete floors;plaster;render;masonry; and is good for sealing) the finished floor was smooth but dusty, this was cleaned up and the PVA was applied, which cured the dust problem.
Smooth masonry paint from B&Q ( brick Red )dirt resistant;high quality acrylic formula ; specially formulated for use on brickwork ; stone ; concrete ; rendering & roughcast.
These tasks were done with regard to the weather which over the duration, was dry, overnight temps were 8 - 10 degrees, so i felt i had done everything right, it looked great, until the first rain some 4 days later, when part of the finish on the porch floor deteriorated, the stairs were unaffected ?????
