Just finished a job today - replaced old electrics in a garage for client. Used conduit on outside of house for supply. Everything is connected and tested and was in the process of doing her certificate when she rang to say she doesn't like it. Can we run it through the house? AAAARRRGGGHHH. Above the c/u is a flight of stairs so thats a no go - next to c/u is kitchen (fitted 6 months ago) - could possibly go the length of the kitchen (under the units) to the outside wall but can't get in to clip my cables. Only alternative is to go through the dinning room which involves serious carpet/floor lifting - and she would still have conduit on the outside wall. She says because it's by the window it catches your eye -not my fault the c/u is in a cupboard under the stairs. As for the window it's about 400mm x 600mm big - if you want to look out of it you have to sit in the cupboard under the stairs! I could understand if it was a room window. She also said the conduit draws attention to her home! What? The catch is she is really nice (old lady) and she has been the epitome of the perfect client - now do I burst her bubble? Mmmmm....

Brick-coloured matt paint on the conduit?

Poke a length of trunking under the kitchen units?

Hi Jonny

I am going there tomorrow to have a word with her - I have thought of running a length of conduit under the units - its the only feasible thing to do - she is still going to have conduit on the outside of the house tho! Well will see what she says.

What colour conduit did you use? Plastic / Metal....

paint the conduit, i guess its metal ... or run a new conduit near the gutter downpipe if there is one near by, this might help hide it

that opens cracks in brick and grows under roof tiles :p but good idea

When the ivy gets to be a nuisance, have a look in the Gardening section - perhaps I can sell you some mites.

Problem solved (kind of) - I am re routing the supply under the kitchen units. When I told her there would still be conduit on the outside of the house, she said thats fine because you cant see it from the road. Apparently if you can see it from the road then it draws attention to her house? Interesting.
