Hi - I am applying for a build over agreement with Thames Water to build over a sewer.

They require "Existing" and "Proposed":

a) Cross-sectional foundation plan
b) Ground floor plans

How do people usually determine the existing foundation plan?

Do you actually dig down until you see the bottom of the foundation just to find out how it currently looks?

What if it is not practical to reveal parts of the detail for the foundation? E.g. you cannot do it without compromising the existing building.

You just draw a token typical foundation. No digging.

Why aren't you just self certifying? No drawings no messing about.

Ive found Thames quite helpful to deal with on build overs.

Obviously your proposed will need to show new foundations to be 150mm below invert level.

They will like to see the usual drain blurb, ie drain runs bedded on pea shingle etc.
