I have no idea how much it would cost for building a wall... would be interested to get a rough guide.. i dont know if its £1 a foot or £80 a foot....
How much at a guess would it cost do build a wall 3 foot high and 10 feet long?
You need 60 bricks per square metre for single skin, 120 for double skin so for a 3' wall 10' long (which is near as doesn't matter 3 square metres) you'd need roughly 360 bricks depending a little on how you finish the top (usually a row of bricks on edge). You could make it quite a bit cheaper by using single brick with piers every (say) 2 metres which would reduce the number of bricks but I think that this looks naff. In this case you'd need roughly 220 bricks for your 10' wall.
For facing bricks like your house maybe either side of 40p per brick (depends what type it is) and I usually double it to get the total cost of building (depends who does it ) so your 10' double skin wall might cost around £250-300.
I do have the picket fencing option
One problem with picket fencing is that you are bound to get the odd yob along from time to time taking a kick at it, also IMHO it looks naff in front of a house.
