Building control - steps for making a new exterior opening

Ahhhh I see. My mistake.

Yes looking at the spec sheets on the travis Perkins site the 140 x 100 will certainly take a lot more load. Ta.

Hello,

Just reviving this thread as I'm part way through this project now.

I heeded Tony's advice and used 1500 x 140 x 100 lintels. I've done the outer skin yesterday/today. I'm going to start on the inner skin tomorrow, however the inner skin is hollow concrete blocks and the coarse is not inline with the outer brickwork.

Should I remove the hollow concrete block below where the lintel will sit and replace with bricks? Or should I use pad stones?

Also how should I get the height up the extra couple of inches to get the lintels in line?

Thanks for your help
Andy
