hi I'm building a garage out of breeze blocks.would like to know how many will need.measurements 8metres long by 3 metres wide and 2 1/2 metres high.

Length of wall = 8+8+3 = 19m = 38 blocks +10% = 42. Height = 2 1/2 = 2 1/2 X 4 +10% = 11 high. So 42 X 11 = 464. For a 100% accurate number you have to work out the front returns, overlaps of courses at corners etc. and breakages when cutting.

A concrete block, with mortar, is 450mm by 225mm, or 0.45m by 0.225m in the units you've used, so you'll need 42 per course.

Frank beat me to it. Eta: design the garage to suit the block dimensions (minimise cutting /faffing) and perhaps consider your roof design (Size of a 2.4 x 1.2 m sheet, or are you planning on buying 3.2 or 3.6m joists? Soffit overhangs etc?)
