    Hi

I’m looking to construct a step down from the patio doors to the garden.

The difference is two brick. The opening is 2300mm so the plan is to use four 600mm flags across the opening bedded onto two course of brick.

I was planning on a strip footing underneath the bricks, but is this overkill?

If not and it is needed, do I need to have a footing and brickwork under each paving slab join? This seems like a lot of concrete (and work) for a single step.

Any other way I could go about this?

    Thanks

    Alan

I’m sure “paving expert” has a section on steps.

It does, but only references a step that’s one or two flags wide. Due to the width mine would be four wide.
