Hi all

I've a garage at the bottom of my garden and have recently had a back door installed.

The issue I have is that the floor of the garage is much higher than my garden.

From the door step to my garden is a drop of five courses of bricks, so I'm going to build a couple of steps.

I have some sandstone slabs and plan on having two steps.

I also have access to the bricks that were where the door is now.
What's the best way to do this, please.

I was thinking of an outline of bricks, two courses, with rubble in the middle and the sandstone slab on top for the bottom step.

Same again for the top step with a sandstone slab of ½ the depth of the lower step.

Would I need a trench full of cement to put the initial course of bricks on and would general rubble be okay for the voids under the paving slabs?

Thanking you in advance,

Slime.
