building regs for chimney removal

Hi,
I am in the process of having the chimney removed in first floor in the near future. I am sure the builder said he will be going through someone else for buiilding regs, ie getting it signed off. Not sure if i heard him right or not, are there other comapanies that can sign the work of other than the council.

You can use a private Building Inspector instead of LABC - but remember the onus is on the house owner (i.e. you in this case) to ensure BRegs compliance so ensure your builder isn't spinning you a yarn .
