Buliding regs question

If you have an extension and conservatory built i appreciate that this needs to have the appropriate is it P1 or PI for the building inspector. Even if you have had your house fully re-wired, is the building inspector only interested in the addition that you have made to the exsiting house, or would they require a full electrical certificate for all of th house.
