My first strimmer is a Hyundai petrol deal. I'm finding the bump control for twine release is a pain... I can't tell how much I've got and a few times ended up with no cord, having to take it apart to thread.

Is this just use error? I'd rather a button to press but it seems this isn't an option. Is bump regarded as the most reliable... If so I'll just put more time into learning how to use it?

The bump feed method is very reliable, convenient and frequently used but as with any machine its guesswork how much line is on the spool - best to check on a regular basis!
One tip is to always use the correct diameter line, as thin stuff will unspool quickly......another is not to overfill the spool to prevent jamming.
Maybe you are overbumping if the line doesnt last long?
John :)

I've never run out of line... But I do keep ending up with none sticking out, then the bump mechanism stops working as I guess it works on a centrifugal basis. Perhaps the line that came with it is just not very good.
