Bump up the memory for photos please

The site won't be running out of space, it will just block massive uploads.

The forest image is only 500k and 1200px wide so it looks like the forum scales stuff down anyway but they have put a max upload limit on

Doing a screen grab and then uploading that works if things are too big

Every time I try and upload a photo from my iPhone I get the following message.

I appreciate images are getting bigger in size nowadays, but also hosting memory is cheap.

For those of us that try to keep build threads on here, it’s very inconvenient to not be able to upload images easily.

No, you reduce the size of your photo's.
Your ignoring those of us that do NOT want to download massive photo's just because you want to post them.

Size restrictions has been a common thing with all forum types for many years for very good reasons.

Danged iphone users! :)

Yeah I thought as much re the scaling, so it should be no bother to increase the file size accepted.

That’s what I’ve had to do for my project thread but it’s a PITA.

Like I’ve said, thus request is about making the forum easier to use for all and to remove barriers that prevent people posting.

Just stay away from my build thread and you’ll be fine mate. (y)

There are two kinds of computer memory; you're talking about the wrong one

I know, it was a rubbish joke

Genuinely though, if you're into tinkering you could take an existing simple resizer shortcut, and alter it so that it:
a) accepts input from share sheet
b) for each item..
c) ..resizes to eg 1920 wide by auto height
d) ..saves a copy in "DIYnot" album

Then you can select eg 20 photos, run the shortcut (share icon.. tap "DIYnot resizer" time, the shortcut will just run and do its stuff) then come to DIYnot and upload from the album..

The extra time it takes to do that resize step (probably about 5 seconds) will be paid back in reduced upload time if nothing else!
