Having painted thinned down emulsion onto plaster, after a considerable drying out period, I then put on a second coat. However, two bumps appeared on the wall above the fireplace. They are not soft atall therefore not blistered. The thing is, they are now decreasing in size, what's all that about??????

Sounds like the plaster has blown away from the wall with the moisture in the paint, and as it's drying it's shrinking back to the wall.
