Hello, I want to replace an old key type alarm panel for a numeric button type panel. Can anyone please help with the wiring. There appears to be two cables with six wires and two cables with four wires, My system has magnetic door points and a motion sensor in the living room. I would just like to understand what the wiring serves so that I can choose a new alarm panel and wire it up. The current one has two zones and there is a blank cable that was for a future garage connection. I have uploaded two photographs to my album and I hope that I have used the correct settings so that you can see the images.

Thanks

Adrian

the cable on the right is the pir as it has power connected to it, but it may have items connected to it at an other point. the middle cable with the link to the piggyback pcb is the bell cable and the others are not that clear but would guess one is the entry zone cable and the other is zone 1 ?.

Is Zone 2 on the plug-on board? It's a bit tricky to read the label and the legends on the circuit board - I keep trying to push the wires to one side!

It looks like each zone has an alarm loop and a tamper loop. What we can't tell is what's connected to the other end of the cable. There may be more than one device, wired in series, on each zone. This is not recommended, these days, but you could still wire them to a modern domestic alarm.
