So we have a boiler in the kitchen which had developed a fault a few months back which was fixed and from then up till now it has been working as it should. The boiler is a halstead ace high and we use a separate electronic timer to control when the heating goes on and off throughout out the day which is only really used in the colder months with the rest of the time having it set to hot water only.

Now the problem we are experiencing is that the boiler is firing up the burner and putting on the hot water light even if we are not using hot water this in turn starts heating up the radiators even if we set the timer to off and set the boiler to hot water only. If we then turn on a hot tap for a few seconds then off again it will stop the burner and go back to not doing anything like it should when its set to hot water only and we are not using hot water.

I'm not sure how long it takes though but after seemingly going back to normal it will then go back and fire up the burner again displaying the light for the hot water and if left the radiators will heat up

DHW flow switch gland is probably leaking into DHW demand switch.

Replace both if this is the case.
