Anyone have any experience / knowledge of of this ?

I like a car i've seen on auto trader, looks great good price but was dismayed that the car is over 200 miles away and can be delivered ! bloody typical ..lol
My cousin has bought a car like this and i personally think he's been very lucky .

I haven't done the hpi / and other checks yet. i thought id checkout what you clever chaps think first.
I am trying to keep the price down and looking for older cars, so they're possib.ly more likely to have some "issues" 15 plate area i was thinking.

I once ordered and bought a Ford Shelby Mustang online. Matt black. Mint condition. It even came boxed up!

If it’s from a dealer, it’s covered under the distance selling regs giving you 14 days to choose whether to keep the car or not, and arrange a return. Drive it back and train home, could be a cheap couple of weeks hire all in?!

Some dodgy dealers out there , friend bought a car , turned out it had no cat , exhaust was straight thru , he managed to claim thru insurance so wasn’t out of pocket.
If you use dealers get a verification of address and ownership .

If your buying it online unseen then insist on paying at least £100 of it on a credit card, if the selling company refuses then walk away.

bought a Ford fusion off eBay for my D i L - comingg up to 20 years old now with very few repairs other than MOT /services - must be 6+ years now - a no rust Ford !!

I'd never buy an 11 year old car without seeing it first. I've bought quite a few cars from mail dealers unseen, but they were always less than a year old, still with manufacturers warranty and manufacturer approved used cars. But buying something 11 years old unseen would be too much of a risk for me, even if there was an option to return it.

If it seemed like the exact car for me, I’d have no problem driving 200 miles to see it. If you’re going to do thousands and thousands of miles in it, what’s a couple of hundred miles to get the right one?

Ask plenty of questions before going to view it and if it seems right, maybe make a short break of it. Don’t put a purchasing deposit down as you are then committed, put a holding deposit subject to viewing it. Only agg would be if you had a fault and had to take it back.

Sorry, is it a private or trade sale?

Just check the distance selling rules as they do exist but I think you have to give them chance to repair it if faulty, not sure about rejecting it because you don`t like it etc.
May be a complete ballache if its 200 miles away.
