A drip from ceiling and a dropped pressure vessel suggest a leak from the pipes to a bathroom towel rail in a tiled floor bathroom.
The access will have to be through the ceiling.
1 Are BG correct when they say that the resulting damage and work on ceiling will not be covered on their c/h insurance?
2 If they are correct, any useful tips on removing/replacing repairing?

1. The answer will be contained in the clauses of your contract to which only you and BG have access.

2. In preferred order - Remove relevant part of ceiling, locate leak, drain down, repair leak, fill & test, repair ceiling.

I am pretty certain that BG insurance does not cover making good afterwards.

However, your separate home insurance may cover this although you should be aware that any claim on any insurance (or even telephone enquiry regarding a possible claim even if you don't subsequently make such a claim) will have an adverse effect on future insurance premiums for you and others within your postcode regardless of any "protected" bonus.

In short, if it's only a few hundred quid, bite the bullet, keep schtum and get an independent to fix.

Thanks--located after making third hole.--now off to plastering forum for repair info.!

Most building policies do cover damage caused in gaining access to a leak ( but not repairing the leak itself ).

However, when policy excesses are usually in the £300 range, its not usually a good idea to claim and a local plasterer would probably fix for about £130 or so.
