I only need to use C16 joists for my new floor, but thought the cost difference of using C24 is pretty small. Are there any benefits of using C24 timber ?

They are about 30% stronger and 20% stiffer.
So the benefit will be that they will deflect less than C16 joists.
Or, if your span is 3.5m or less, you could use 50x150 C24 and gain 25mm head height.
