Cable and central heating pipes

I have some cable running parallel to floor at the top of a wall. A plumber installing the central heating has run his pipes at a 90 degree angle to the cable down the corner of the room. The pipes are virtually touching the cable.
Is this dangerous due to the heat produced by the pipes? Do i need to insulate the pipes or move the cable?

What are the cables for? The pipes wont melt the cable (unless your heating is turned up to max++++ and the overheat thermostat is knackered), and for the very short distance in question, there shouldn't be any ill effect on the cable. If you're being very cautious, insert a piece of polystyrene between the cable and the pipes, as over time the heating and cooling effects on the cable may be detrimental to the cable's performance.

crafty - the pipes can heat the cables and reduce current carrying capacity. altho i wouldnt worry about it too much

The cable is for the downstairs ring main.

I thought polystyrene caused a reaction with the cables?
Anyways, thanks for the advice, i take it there will be no serious effects.

unless the cable is directly between pipes, i wouldnt worry too much

i knew this andy, but as the pipes cross the cables, its not like the entire run of cable needs de-rating, is it.
