Would appreciate the help of someone regarding the cable size to install a 7.2kw induction hob.
The run is 5m from the consumer unit and the cable will be under floorboards, also what capacity curcuit breaker to use.

Thanks

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for one meal. Teach him how to fish, and you feed him for the rest of his life.

Rather than give you the answer which he did, EFLI would in reality have served you much better by showing you how to work out for yourself what size cable and fuse rating to use.

As this is a new circuit, do not forget to inform the LABC of your intentions to do this. You must do this, BEFORE starting work.
I am assuming you are planning to do this yourself, rather than use an registered electrician?

7200W/230V=31.3A
The run is 5m from the consumer unit
voltage drop 1.72 Volts
and the cable will be under floorboards
But not run through thermal insulation and conduit/trunking, so no de-rating factors of cable?

Then 4.0mm T&E can quite happily carry a maximum current of 37A,
But 6.00mm T&E will allow for upgrades.

also what capacity curcuit breaker to use.
Maximum demand of hob is 31.3A, so a 32A B type MCB would be sufficient, this ideally would be type tested for the board, so make and model of the board and breaker are compatibly.

Any cable buried in wall less than 50mm with no additional mechanical protection will require 30mA RCD protection.
You will also likely to require a double pole isolator for hob rated above its load, so 45A Isolators, possibly an outlet plate and 4.0mm 3 core - buytl heat resistant flex.

Cables buried wall to be located in permitted safe zones and chases to comply to Part A of building regulations (no more than 1/3rd depth of wall vertically and 1/6th horizontally)

Is under the floor not method B?
Cables on a floor is ref meth C, does not state whether that means above or below.
Under a ceiling ref meth B (BS7671), but surely under a ceiling would mean not within the void, clipped direct to underneath the ceiling is defined as ref meth C :?:
