Going back to my shower pump query if i fit a shower pump to my gravity fed system will i have to have a seperate pull switch in the bathroom to turn it on every time i want a shower or will the action of the water trigger it? Also what does closed head system mean?

Closed head system?

Only thing i know about closed head is a "Differential By-pass Valve", which automatically stabilises circulation flow rate in pumped heating systems when a thermostatic radiator or zone valves closes, thus protecting from pumping against a closed head.

Not quite what you on about though i presume!!

what does closed head system mean?
Nothing in relation to domestic plumbing and heating (the term is used with sprinkler systems). Perhaps you mean pressurised or unvented hot water systems?

Do you mean negative(uphill) vs positive(downhill) head?
