Seems obvious now you've said that! Ive ordered one. Although my bodge is holding up for now.
Out of interest I took the old motor apart. The rear bearing (on the pump side) had corroded for some reason. I picked some new bearings up locally (they were £5 each) so at least I've got a spare motor now
Once again thanks for the help.
The usual cause of bearing failure is a leaking pump shaft seal. They are dry bearings and don't like being injected with Kerosene at up to 150 psi.
As above virtually always pump side bearing that fails.
