I think the answer is no however I have this defunct shower switch. Power goes to it but the shower has gone. My question is can I move this down and replace with an electrical socket? The wires are fatter than I was expecting. Thanks

I took it that the switch was not in the bathroom.

If it is then you can't have a socket in the bathroom anyway - unless it is very large.

Yes, providing the 'fat cables' will fit into the terminals of a socket outlet. You might find it handy to have the new socket up at the present height anyway, thus avoiding chopping out the wall/shortening the cable. Don't forget to relabel the RCBO/MCB.

Where does the output cable from the switch now end up? That might need to be removed if it's no longer used?

The current socket is on the landing (not in the bathroom). Not sure where the output cable goes or what’s in the end of it. The previous occupants just said it was for an old shower I suspect they are hiding somewhere! My thought were to figure out which is the output and disconnect that and just cut it where the new position is and move the switch
down and replace with socket. The wire has its own fuse on the consumer unit.

Sounds fine to me.

Use a 47mm deep box and you may have to be selective about which brand of socket you choose as some terminals may not be big enough.
