Just change the parts over but leave the upright in the cistern.

The syphon you have is a good one and can be easily fixed if not working correctly.

As above.

The Syphon looks like a Dudley Turbo, splits for easy maintenance, and in my view, probably one of the best on the market. Have one in each of my WC's.
