Hello,

Im just looking for a bit of help please,

I have a wall hung combi boiler, the manual says its a Parva He M96.24SM/P, I had it fitted about a year ago. Ive read through the manual and cant seem to find anything i can do to fix it.

It all works perfectly, heating/hot water etc, but ive noticed that the small pipe that goes through the wall to the outside of my house constantly leaks water. I think it happens when the boiler is off and on, although it seems to run a lot faster when the boiler is on. Does anyone know how i can stop this happening? It worries me because its not just a drip, its a steady flow, Im panicking that im going to get a huge water bill one day!

Also, im not sure if this is connected, but whenever i turn teh heating off or on, the pipes creek for an hour or so, not continuosly, just every 20mins or so, like a kind of groaning noice,

Thanks guys, id appreciate any advice you can give me.

Lucy,

If you're not having to constantly top up the pressure then it sounds like the filling loop has been left open.

At some stage the pressure has gone beyond what the Pressure Relief valve is set at (3bar ?), The valve has opened to release pressure and it closes again. When closing it most likely has trapped dirt on the valve seat and not closed properly so it leaks.
Options are:
Open valve manually and see if it clears dirt (doubtful)
Remove valve for cleaning after draining down
Fit new valve after draining down.

Must find reason why pressure went up to cause valve to open and solve first. (most likely the expansion vessel has lost some of its air pressure)

The one important thing you have not told us is what the pressure gauge is reading!

The PRV is not easy to take out on that model and I would not say its an easy job for a DIY.

thank you for all helping, any ideas where to locate this value and the pressure is reading 2.5

The pressure should be about 1.5 !

No wonder its leaking!

Dont you know what the filling valve is and have you not checked that its closed?

You can bleed excess pressure from a radiator, about 1-2 litres to reduce from 2.5 Bar to 1.5 Bar.

Lucy,
Pressure vessel is either down on pressure or knackered, open the pressure relief valve so your pressure gauge reads zero, then test the pressure vessel with a tyre pressure gauge, it should be about 1.5bar - top it up with a foot pump, then repressurise the system to 1.2bar

...if it does it again today, your PV sounds foobarred

Little point in doing anything like that until he has located the filling valve!

Its not in the manual because its not part of the boiler!

Its where you regularly top up the pressure. It cost £94 for me to go out to find one behind the washing machine yesterday!

Tony

Thank you, located the filing valve and reduced the pressure to a little less than 1.5, noise has stopped, ill keep an eye on teh dripping, Thanks again, really appreciate your help.
