We've always had a damp wall in our bedroom window opening and condensation on the glass. Tried many things to address it but never got to the bottom of it.

Last weekend i was looking at the brickwork around the window and noticed the mortar is cracked from the bottom right corner of the window zig zagging diagonally down to the edge of the house. Although this crack is at the bottom of the window level down i wondered if rain driving in could be causing the damp around the window area

It's a cavity wall although was filled with cavity fill several years ago.

Is it worth my effort hacking the old mortar out and repointing the effected areas ?

tia,
Mike.
