Can I cut Loft Joists

Hello

Can somebody tell me if it is possible to cut by ceiling joists above bedroom and brace them crossways to the next uncut joist?

I can draw this better than I can type an explanation.

basically similar to making a loft hatch.

Does this break building regs ect.

Any help much appreciated.

And how big can I make this hole?

In terms of width I wouldn't cut more than 1 joist out but length can be anything you want. As long as the cut joist is tied to its neighbours as per the diagram, to prevent the roof spreading, it should be fine.
