Can I cut this plug off and replace?

Some countries do better than others at recycling, particularly stuff that is made of mixed materials. We are pretty shoite.

My council only accepts plastic bottles. Despite the fact that other shaped items are made of the same material, the council says that bottles are a better quality plastic so will not accept anything else.
Other neighbouring councils accept a wider range of plastics.

The vast majority of the contents of our black bin is plastic that is currently not accepted for recycling.

Even the tip is sniffy about accepting stuff. I took a mirror the other day that was all wood apart from a sheet of glass stuck on it, but they said it had to go in the non-recyclable skip as it was mixed materials.

Surely the vast majority of stuff that gets taken to the tip is MM? Bikes went in the metal skip, despite having plastic parts.

We need to find ways of recycling far more stuff than we currently do.

I think a deposit on containers is a brilliant way to get customers to return packaging. And if some discard the packaging, it encourages others to pick it up in order to claim the deposit.

For those who are not practically-minded, it is a good solution. OK, so the Amazon product is not the cheapest, that was just an example I pulled up quickly. But I feel it is a quick and easy way to convert the fitted plug without resorting to tools.

As for a failure point, I have two appliances that use the converter plugs and they have been in use for many years with no issues.

that may be so, but people made good coffee for many years before the k-cup invention. It is an unnecessary waste. But so is most plastic. We used to be able to buy drinks, meat, cakes and screws without needing plastic packaging ...

I am trying to reduce plastic waste. Sometimes very hard though when what you need only comes in plastic!
 
Engineer Thomas Midgley also had a habit of inventing unfortunate things.

Sainsburies and hand formed block of butter wrapped in paper ( that was used to light the fire ). No plastic involved.
 
And my answer was geared towards anyone who may come here for advice, not just the OP.
 
Another problem with adapters is that people buy the cheapest that don’t incorporate earthing (though I realise that does not apply to the one you linked to).
