Evening all. We have a 1.5 story victorian house with slate roof and dormers - 3 at front and 1 dormer at the rear.

We've had various parts of the roof & loft insulated where possible, but above the dormers it's not been done.

Is there any issue with cutting a hatch through the sarking from the loft into the space above the dormer to get in to insulate? Other than it being a tight squeeze and a horrible job, are there any issues in doing so?

Assuming you have a pitched dormer roof then yes you can do that. Cut out a neat square of plasterboard Afterwards seal the opening vapour barrier, and replace the square of plasterboard, taped & screwed up to prevent warm air from below getting into the mini loft.
