I shall be painting the area above a newly installed picture rail with a Farrow & Ball estate emulsion colour. I want to paint the picture rail the same colour. If I start with a wood primer and undercoat can I use the emulsion for the top coat. I could buy a woodwork eggshell but (a) it's expensive for a relatively small area and (b) the colour is unlikely to match perfectly. I don't plan to use the rail to hang pictures and it's high enough to avoid knocks and bumps.

Started to search online for the difference between emulsion and eggshell and other than the durability issue (which I can't see is relevant here) I can't find the answer.

Many thanks

Whoah that was a quick reply. I know they are expensive but that flat finish is something else.

It's not the paint so much as the texture of the wall and the technique involved. F&B will look like Wikos if not applied properly.
